Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) Edit

The Internet Engineering Task Force develops and publishes Internet standards. Most often the standards that comprise the Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP). There is no formal membership or requirements to be a part of the organization as all managers and participants are volunteers. The first meeting was held on January 1986, supported by the U.S. government. Since 1993, it operates under the Internet Society which is an international membership-based non-profit organization.
